The good news is that Maxim Logue, a former Tar Heel recruit, has found a new home somewhere despite the fact that his initial summer plan did not pan out as he (or the UNC basketball program) had intended.
Logue has promised to play at the University of Memphis for Penny Hardaway. After two brief spells at Oregon State and FAU, it will be his third college destination.
It was decided that the seasoned big man would not be going to North Carolina after obtaining a commitment from Logue just over a week later. It was discovered that Logue was unable to be paired with the Tar Heels due to academic obstacles that could not be overcome for him to be admitted to the university.
Logue has played collegiate ball for two seasons, one at Florida Atlantic and one at Oregon State. Logue, a native of Lyon, France, was anticipated to contribute to UNC’s frontcourt rotation due to his size, quickness, and exceptional rebounding skills, particularly on the offensive glass, which made him a desirable target for Michael Malone and the Tar Heels.

Logue will now bring his skills to Memphis, where he will work with Penny Hardaway as a reliable rim protector. Although it was a minor setback for North Carolina, Michael Malone and his staff are still working on it, so the Tar Heels have been turning to other big man targets to fill the vacuum.
Given that he would have complemented incoming five-star phenom Sayon Keita, Logue probably would have been a good backup big man for the Tar Heels. However, since they have already identified potential recruiting targets who might eventually bring their skills to Chapel Hill, the Tar Heels will have to go elsewhere for someone to provide depth in the frontcourt.
